Help for Myanmar

June 10, 2008 - In the last days farming tools and tents have been distributed in the Irrawaddy-delta, Myanmar. The area is struc by Nargis. Staffmembers of Help a Child and ZOA Refugee Care were in the area to make sure the tools and tents reached their destination.

Help a Child, ZOA Refugee Care and Woord en Daad (Word and Dead) have permission to work in the area. The tree ngo's are operating together under the name of CDN.
Jan Lamberink, working for Help a Child, was in Myanmar. He tells: ,,It took us three days to go to the area by boot. Our tools and tents could be distributed to people who really needed them. The cooperation by the local government was great.''
Lamberink experienced people are trying to go on with their lives. ,,In the villages we came there was a lot of damage. There are very much victims in all villages.'' 
The three ngo's are working hard on plans to do more for the victims, and help them to build a new life.

Year Report 2007: more children supported

April 24, 2008 - Help a Child has had a tremendous year 2007. The income increased from 8,9 million euros in 2006 to 9,6 million in 2007; a growth of 7,9 percent. 

Help a Child supported 59.873 children; 31.105 more than in 2006. This facts are noted in the Year Report 2007. Especially in the programs education and HIV/Aids more children were supported. The children that benefited of the emergency relief programs are not counted.
